====== Introduction ======

This page is provided to give an overview of the navigation and buttons of the Shorewest Wiki

====== General Navigation ======

First and foremost are the ways you can get back to the start page. If you ever get lost in the Wiki, you can always navigate back to the main page by clicking the little house icon in the top left corner or by clicking the "Shorewest Welcome Page" at the top of the navigation sidebar:

Most of the navigation in the wiki is done by drilling down the heirarchy using built in menus. The sidebar will keep track of where you are and provide a quick way back up to another page or parent page. You can also use the breadcrumb menu at the top of the screen:

====== Buttons & Menus ======

There are a few buttons that are useful to know while you are browsing, editing, or otherwise using the wiki

===== Table Of Contents Menu =====

The table of contents, if available for a page, appears in the top right corner of the page. When you are at the top of a page, if the page has headers, it is automatically expanded:

As you go down the page it will automatically hide until you expand it again. Once you expand it again, it will stay expanded until you shrink it again as long as you are on that page.

If the table of contents is expanded, it will keep track of where you are in the document using the page progress indicator:

===== The Navbar =====

The navbar is the bar at the very top of the page.  Most of the usable items in the navbar are to the right.  They are, from left to right, the search bar, the tool menu, and the profile menu:

==== The Tool Menu ====

The tool menu has some useful items that may be different based on where you are on the site and what permissions you have. Below is the standard tool menu:

From here you can:

  * Log out
      * Log out from your Wiki Session
  * Recent Changes
      * See the last 10 changes to the page you are on.  Useful if you want to refer to some old information that has since been removed from the page.
  * Media Manager
      * Takes you to the [[:wiki:how_to_use_this_wiki:the_media_manager|Media Manager]] (Follow link for more details)
  * Sitemap
      * Takes you to a page where you can see all the pages on the wiki that you have immediate access to
  * Show Pagesource
      * For advanced users and inquisitive minds
  * Old Revisions
      * See changes to the page extending back further than the last 10 changes
  * Backlinks
      * Shows you all the pages that link to this page
  * Manage Subscriptions
      * Takes you to the "Subscription Management page" where you can subscribe to a page.  This will cause an email to be sent to either when a change is made to the page you are on or once a day containing all the changes to the page you are on
  * Export to PDF
      * Get a PDF version of the page you are on
  * Back to the top
      * Takes you back to the top of the page

There are some quick-jump icons on the right side of the page that will allow you to quickly access some of these features as well:

===== Other Buttons =====

There are at the top of the page as well:

These are, from left to right, the "Send as email" button, the "Print" button, and the "Copy Link" button.

  * Send as email
      * Opens your default email client and places a link to the current page in the body of a new email.
  * Print
      * Opens the print dialogue so you can print the page you are currently on
  * Copy Link
      * Copies a link to the current page to your clipboard so you can paste it elsewhere.
